Malaysia visa photo requirements35 Γ— 50 mm eVISA, but 35 Γ— 45 mm for students

The social eVISA and EMGS student routes publish different dimensions. Both demand a professionally captured white-background image and restrict digital editing, so choose the application route before preparing a file.

Background and crop only. PassPhoto never changes facial features or identity.

MYVISA social eVISA

Studio image on a pure white background.

EMGS student route

35 Γ— 45 mm

Normal paper route

Local mission controls

35 Γ— 50 mm is common; quantity varies.

Malaysia alteration note

The official MYVISA FAQ requires an image taken in a studio and rejects selfies and scanned images. Its detailed PDF says the background "must NOT be cropped out with photo editing tool" and rejects digitally modified images. PassPhoto still allows background replacement, but keeps this note visible before you continue.

Background replacement remains available with a note

PassPhoto can create a pure white background and crop to the social eVISA 35 Γ— 50 mm ratio. It never changes skin, hair, facial geometry, expression, clothing, or identity. MYVISA and EMGS both restrict editing, so the final decision to use an edited result belongs to you and the authority handling the application.

Malaysia visa photo FAQ

Direct answers for each application route

What size is a Malaysia eVISA photo?

The current official MYVISA FAQ for a social eVISA specifies 35 x 50 mm. It must be a recent studio-taken image with a plain white background. This does not mean every Malaysia visa route uses the same size.

Why does the Malaysia student visa use 35 x 45 mm?

Education Malaysia Global Services publishes a separate 35 x 45 mm requirement for its student route. That image is used in the immigration process and on the student identity card, so the MYVISA social eVISA 35 x 50 mm preset should not be substituted.

What is the Malaysia visa photo size in pixels?

MYVISA publishes a physical 35 x 50 mm size but does not state one universal pixel box or file-size range in the public photo FAQ reviewed here. Use digital dimensions or file limits only when the official filing portal publishes them.

Can I use a selfie for a Malaysia eVISA?

No. The current MYVISA FAQ says scanned and selfie photos are strictly not permitted and requires a studio-taken image. A photo taken by somebody else at home is still not described as an accepted substitute.

Can PassPhoto replace the background?

PassPhoto still allows background replacement, but official MYVISA guidance says the background must not be removed with a photo-editing tool and rejects digitally modified images. Continue only after deciding whether an edited result is suitable for your route. PassPhoto never changes the face, skin, hair, expression, clothing, or identity.

Can I wear glasses?

The MYVISA FAQ PDF says glasses must not create glare or shadows. Some Malaysian mission and student-route instructions are stricter, so follow the exact route rather than assuming glasses are always accepted.

How many printed photos are required?

A social eVISA is uploaded online and does not normally require physical documents unless requested. Paper routes vary: Ottawa lists one 35 x 50 mm image, while Manila lists two for several visa categories. Use your local mission checklist.

Does PassPhoto print or submit Malaysia visa photos?

No. PassPhoto prepares a downloadable crop and background. You handle any required printing and submit through MYVISA, EMGS, or the Malaysian mission responsible for your application.
