Hong Kong specification note
The official visitor sources do not publish a universal online pixel size, background colour, or head-height rule. The separate travel-document page publishes a 40 × 50 mm white-background standard, while paper visitor forms use a 40–45 × 50–55 mm range. PassPhoto treats this as requirements-only because those sources do not establish one safe edited-output workflow for visa or entry-permit photos.

What the government actually publishes
The visit/transit page and guidebook require a recent applicant photo. The paper form adds an acceptable size range, while GovHK publishes the online formats, one-file count, colour requirement, and 5 MB ceiling.

What size is a Hong Kong visit visa photo?
For the paper ID 1003A application, the official form says the image must not be larger than 45 x 55 mm and not smaller than 40 x 50 mm. A 40 x 50 mm print is therefore inside the official range. The online visitor service does not publish one mandatory millimetre or pixel size.
What is the Hong Kong eVisa photo size in pixels?
The official online visit/transit service requires one recent colour photo but does not publish one pixel dimension. It accepts JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG, or TIF files up to 5 MB each. Use a pixel dimension only if the official filing portal asks for one.
Does the online application require a photo?
Yes. The GovHK online application page marks one recent applicant photo as mandatory. The wider Immigration Department service also says electronic visa services cover visit applications and allow photos and supporting documents to be uploaded online.
Does the photo need a white background?
The official visitor application pages and ID 1003A form reviewed here do not publish a background colour. The separate Hong Kong travel-document photo standard uses a plain white background, but it is not a universal visitor-visa edit permission.
Can PassPhoto replace the background?

How large should the head be?

Do all travellers need a Hong Kong visit visa?
No. Visa or entry-permit requirements depend on nationality, travel-document type, and intended stay. Check the current Part II table on the Hong Kong Immigration Department website before preparing an application.
Does PassPhoto print or submit the photo?
No. PassPhoto provides requirements guidance and a local ratio check only. You arrange any required printing and submit the original photo file or paper form through the Hong Kong Immigration Department or the office handling your application.
